I mentioned last year that I wanted to do 52 weeks of portraits of loved ones, because I just love portraits so much. I love instant film and miss my Polaroid every day, so I was super psyched to get the Fujifilm Instax Mini for Christmas. I was surprised to find there is a bit of a learning curve with it. For instance, I've found that photos turn out best if the subject is against a blank background (I like white best) and if you have it set on the "Hi-Key" setting. Even on the sunniest day, setting it to the sunny day setting leaves me with dark black photos. Womp. That's okay, I love the washed out look of instant film that Hi-Key leaves you with, and this setting is INSANELY flattering. Most of my friends resist having their picture taken, but once they see everyone else's portraits, people actually ask me to take their photo.
