One year ago, I started a little blog. One year later, it is still a little blog, but a little blog I've come to love very much. We've appeared on Design Sponge, Apartment Therapy, the Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, as well as a number of amazing DIY-related blogs.
By the numbers....
3 weeks - Amount of time that passed between starting the blog and being featured on Design Sponge!
5th - place we came in during the Apartment Therapy Homies contest (in which we were waaay out of our league, but were overwhelmed at our regular readers coming out of the woodwork to support such a small blog in such a big contest!)
6 - Times I cried while failing miserably at a project, all of which were shared with you.
10- Amount of times I've rearranged the living room since moving in.
0 - Amount of times I've rearranged the dining room since moving in.
13- Number of months we've been in this apartment
800- Facebook followers
3,500 Pinterest followers
138 - Posts to date
1,200 - comments, my favorite part of this blog
11- comments left by readers chastising me for my excessive profanity. My favorite? "I don't know why you swear so much when everyone can see you aren't even hot." #2013 #stayugly #keepcussin
1,800,000 - page views (that's like, the same number of people currently employed by McDonald's worldwide. So pretend that every single McDonald's employee on the planet looked at this blog once.)
3 house tours, completed by very kind readers who let strangers into their homes for you guys (1, 2, 3)
So that's it! Radical Possibility by the numbers. Sometimes it can feel very big, sometimes it can feel very small. It's hard sometimes to look at other blogs and be like "Why hasn't Oprah called me before??", but aside from how ridiculous that gauge is, it's nice to just enjoy this blog for what it is. That's not to say I don't have a few goals for the upcoming year!
One of them will be checked off when Apartment Therapy does a tour of my place (something that won't feel real until after it happens). It would also be really nice to do some writing for another site, partner with some more bloggers, etc. In the meantime, we'll take it day by day, doing small improvements to a shitty apartment and telling you all about it.
You guys are also the very best. I love that when I look at my first post, so many of those commenters are still active today. I love that you guys support my art, and email me projects you think I'd like and send me pictures of projects of mine you've done. It's really rad.
Looking forward to another year with you guys!
