I know the east coast is being hit with some bad weather right now, but Chicago is in a bad way as well. Walking to work was a fun game of "don't die, don't die, don't die." It also pretty much solidified that this weekend I will be staying in my apartment with the heat turned up to tropical levels, leaving only to smoke or walk Lucille. Because I am an adult.
Anyways, because I know I'd be tempted to just lay around on my ass watching a medley of Say Yes to the Dress and The West Wing, I pulled together a few recipes to make for the week ahead and thought I'd share in case you're also snowed in! I'll post reviews after eating all of them, to help you gauge how idiot-proof they are.
Crockpot Caramel, though I started making this last night and when I woke up it was most definitely still just a can of condensed milk sitting in a crock pot, so fingers crossed that a few more hours turns it into something awesome.
A few of my friends have made these salt & vinegar mashed potatoes now, and they've garnered rave reviews from all. Plus, I can take down a bag of salt & vinegar chips like its my JOB, so this feels like a slightly more adult version of that.
This deconstructed spicy California Roll has been on my food wishlist for a while now, and if the rest of my weekend is sitting around with bowls of caramel and mashed potatoes, a little light eating might be necessary to keep me alive.
Stay warm, and happy Friday!
My final Shameless Plug - Please vote for Radical Possibility in the Apartment Therapy Homies! We just gotta make it to the top six to get to the next round, and we recently fell out! If you enjoy reading this blog, your vote would be greatly appreciated! This blog is a labor of love, but a little publicity from such a huge site has been incredible, and I truly appreciate all your votes.
